Mexican Rosé Wines with Legend

In the world, there is much talk about French, Italian, Spanish, and Californian wines, but little is said about the delicacies that come from the Mexican grapes, and the vast amount of vineyards and beautiful wineries that we have in the country. In addition to being a territory with excellent weather, because it’s mild and our land is super fertile (and that’s well known), our wines are full of stories and legends to tell as it’s a tradition in our culture.

So today, for you to enjoy a nice sunny summer day, we made a collaboration with Taninos Mx to bring you two excellent options of Mexican rosés that come from Sierra de Arteaga, Coahuila. These wines are produced by Bodegas del Viento (Wind Wineries), perfect to be enjoyed in good company, and listen to their story. For me, there’s nothing like knowing the history behind what we consume!

In Mexico, our ancestors worshiped countless mystical gods who, for years, have been part of our history and culture. And just like that, it’s that Bodegas del Viento receives its name. The story goes back to the indigenous populations of Sierra de Arteaga area in Coahuila, since its inhabitants, the Huachichiles, had a great devotion to the Wind God. They would offer him their rivals ashes, letting them fly through the air. That was how, in 1998, the Dávila family created Bodegas del Viento, a project that began as an experimental vineyard with 15 different vines.

Later, and with more experience in the world of the grape, they decided to grow their vineyards 4.5 hectares more, making room for Pinot Noir within their strains catalog. This is how the first and only Mexican Pinot Noir Rosé was born, positioning itself not only as a high-end wine in the Southeast region of Coahuila but also nationally. This winery was highlighted for this excellent creation, for its purpose in breaking paradigms and for creating unique wines capable of surprising anyone.

What can we tell you about this exquisite Pinot Noir Rosé? As soon as you pour your first very cold glass, you start to taste its citrus and floral aromas, a spectacular combination that lets you know that it’s the only one of its kind; dry and perfect to pair with seafood and meat. How about starting with a Fresh seafood platter at noon and a cold cuts and cheese board to enjoy the sunset? What a delight! I already saw myself! Please bring me that combo now!

Another favorite from the same winery is the UK rosé wine, resulting from an amazing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and a bit of Merlot, sounds good huh? I love blends! All this to create a totally fresh wine, with very good intensity and fruity aromas that make you feel in a heavenly tropical environment. The peach and banana hints, as well as the perfect acidity built into this rosé, makes it an easy wine to drink and even easier to enjoy!

The best of all is that to enjoy these two wines, it’s not necessary to go to the winery in Sierra de Arteaga, which although it’s worth visiting, you can also find them in Taninos Mx, who in addition to specializing in finding wines like these, which are different, delicious, exclusive and full of perfect flavors to pamper the most demanding palates and make the most amateurs fall in love, they also promote the consumption of Mexican wine and support national wineries.

So cheers for more locally-driven projects and lots of rosé-filled sunny days!
